Actress Deborah Kerr dead at 86

Actress Deborah Kerr has died in England. She was 86 and suffering from Parkinson's disease. Ms. Kerr appeared in many films, among them From Here to Eternity and The King and I.
In From Here to Eternity, Ms. Kerr shared a very passionate kiss with Burt Lancaster; a scene that has been copied or parodied countless times. She was nominated for an Oscar for her role in this film. In 1956, she played Anna in the musical
The King of I opposite Yul Brynner, a role for which she was again nominated for the Oscar. In fact, she was nominated for the Oscar six times but never won. In 1993 she was awarded an honorary Oscar for her body of work.
In 1998 Ms. Kerr was awarded a CBE but was unable to accept it in person due to ill health.
Ms. Kerr was born in Scotland and lived much of her life in Switzerland. She moved back to the UK to spend more time with her daughters and their families.
Ms. Kerr leaves behind her husband, writer Peter Viertel, two daughters and three grandchildren.
