UNC Tries to Beat Pillow Fight Record

by wiccania.
It was 10 minutes of feathers flying and pillows swinging as students at the University of Northern Colorado's Garden Theater attempted to break the Worlds Largest Pillow Fight record.
No word yet on whether they actually broke the record or not, but all reports say that it was certainly fun.

On Thursday night, Homecoming was celebrated with an attempt to break the world record for the largest pillow fight. After the feathers settled, The Forecast played a concert.

Shannon Burns, who plays bass and sings for the band, caught some of the action.

"Oh, it was awesome," Burns said. "It was pretty crazy, actually. I don't know how much longer I could have stayed in there. It was pretty dangerous."

The event was free, but students were encouraged to donate $1 which would go to the Miles 4 Smiles foundation, which helps fund children's cancer research.

According to the Greely Tribune, "The University of Albany in New York set the world record of 3,648 fighters in April 2005. An official tally for UNC's fight will not be available until today."

As much fun as the event was, students aren't optimistic about breaking the record.

"I don't think we broke the record, but we had an amazing turnout for UNC," Ingrisano said. "Record-break or no record-break, our students still had a good time and that was our goal." [Jamie Ingrisano, a resident assistant in Harrison Hall who helped plan the event]

Alex Kendall, a senior speech language pathology and audiology major, would agree.

"It was intense," Kendall said, still breathing hard from the fight. "Everything was just calm for a second and then just something sparked and everyone ran in."

"Hopefully they do it again next year."

Indeed, perhaps they will do it again. Seems a fun way to raise money for charity and attempt to break a record to me. There was something on the news about the event Thursday morning, encouraging people to go witness the event and contribute to the Miles 4 Smiles Foundation.
