A Kelton Research survey of 1,000 Americans showed more could recall all the Big Mac Ingredients better than the list of Ten Commandments according to the Catholic News Service (CNS).
Kelton Research conducted a survey of 1,000 Americans and asked them questions regarding Ten Commandments and ingredients in Big Mac, McDonald’s sandwich. About 80 percent of the survey group could correctly identify the main ingredient in the sandwich, ‘two beef patties’ but less than 60 percent recalled the commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill’.
More than 76 percent remembered Big Mac ingredient lettuce, 75 percent sesame seed bun, 66 percent special sauce, 62 percent pickles and 60 percent cheese, but only 45 percent could recall correctly the commandment ‘Honor your father and mother’.
Other low percentages recalls of commandments were 34 percent remembered “To keep the Sabbath holy” and 29 percent “Thou shalt have no other gods before me (GOD)”.
Kelton research survey also found similar problems with churchgoers as well, who had difficulty in naming all of the commandments. Only 70 recalled “Thou shalt not kill” listed as “You shall not kill” and 69 percent recalled “You shall not steal”.
CNS enlisted Kelton research to promote their new animated movie “Ten Commandments” that is going to be released coming October 19th. In a related survey, they found the participants had an easier time remembering the names of the six children on the old TV series “The Brady Bunch”.
Since different Christian groups have different versions of Commandments, they allowed some variation in the answers. This trend may be seen in other religions also.
