Op-Ed: Are You a Hero Today?

Ontario is voting today for it's provincial political scene. Have you cast your ballot? Not everyone in Ontario can vote, people who have a PR card for example are not eligible to have their voices heard. Those who can vote though can be the hero.

Voting for change and the good of the people is a heroic thing. Quietly selecting what you believe to be the best choices for your government is an honour that many in this world have no choice in. Countries that have true free elections are special. If you're voting today you will help decide the future for things like housing, medical issues, air and water pollution, education and child care, programs that protect victims of domestic violence and job training. Do you like the way the TTC is run? The hours that the library is open? The shelters that protect the homeless from the elements? If your kids school has a pool? Your vote makes a difference in those matters. Today you are voting for a Member of Provincial Parliament . The candidates want your vote. It's a hard choice but making sure your riding has the best rep for the people is the job of the people. Their job interview process is over, it's up to you to decide if they are in or need to take a hike. So who can vote? If you are at least 18 years old by election day; a Canadian citizen; and a resident of Ontario you can make your voice be heard in a whisper. So are you a hero?
