article imageEatery's 'Naked Lunch' May Be Banned

By RobotGod     Oct 6, 2007 in Food
The Black Frog Restaurant's version of the "Naked Lunch" may soon be banned, sharing the fate of William Burroughs' novel of the same name. Because of a sandwich called the Skinny Dip.
breitbart reports that it features sliced prime rib in a baguette roll, and it has been offered free of charge to anyone willing to plunge naked from the restaurant's dock into Moosehead Lake.
Since the free sandwich offer was started three years ago, the owner Leigh Turner has found plenty of takers. About 2 or 3 a week.
During that time only one customer has suggested that the activity might be inappropriate. However, that patron apparently suggested to selectmen recently that the activity be curtailed.
The issue surfaced this week when Town Manager John Simko presented the Black Frog's application to renew its liquor license. Simko said he had been approached about the nudity and suggested that the Police Chief speak to the owner about it.
Turner did not attend the selectmen's meeting, but said he would remove the free lunch offer if asked to.
It's a sad day when you can't even jump in a lake for a free sandwich. People can be such sticks in the mud.
The skinny dip was usually done at night, with no frontal nudity exposed to customers and a towel was readily available, so it was hurting no one.
