China Says Bra Ads Not Socially Uplifting

After the recent banning of "sexually provocative sounds" on Chinese television, the Chinese are now banning TV networks from advertising provocative push-up bras and tight, sensual underwear.
China is really cracking down on what they consider politically incorrect media for the people. This comes just before a major Communist Party meeting in October.

China's State Administration Of Radio, Film & Television said other targets of the crackdown included "low-brow and base" commercials for sex toys and ads featuring famous people or experts attesting to the efficacy of medicines.

"Every television advertisement management bureau and television station must strengthen their political consciousness and responsibility towards society," said spokesman Tian Jin.

Many reality shows have been given the axe, including ones that feature sex changes and plastic surgery. Even talent contests have been forbidden during prime-time tv.

This banning frenzy comes just shortly before the meeting of the 17th Communist Party congress. This is an important political meeting that appoints key national leaders and sets the country's policy for the next five years.

Broadcasters were urged to stop their vulgar and poor taste programming and advertising before all of this banning began, but the ratings were high for the risque. Now they will need to have "inspiring" content for the masses imbued with socialist values.

State television boss Zhao Huayong told his staff:
"Create a positive atmosphere for public opinion.

"Strictly adhere to propaganda requirements. Do not rush to report, do not report impulsively and make sure there are no mistakes from reports on any large events."

    Good old China.
They want to be so morally correct but they can put poison in food and lead in paint.

Yes, that is certainly true! I'd rather risk being titillated by an undie commercial than eat, play with or use anything coming from that country! At least TV ain't gonna kill me or make me sick!

Well I don't know about that part of it, jag. Some people get influenced by violence to commit violence so what they see on TV can get you killed...in a way. :-)

Hope you have been keeping well. Interesting post. The Chinese government does whatever it whats to do no matter whether it makes sense or not.

    Cheers.

They didn't have TV 10 years ago I think in China, a lot of things have changed their. The above ban will be temporary, it has changed quiet a bit.

I could understand banning all ads but bras, do they not have remote controls so that they can switch channels.
