In Brazil, Google has 99.999% uptime, which is amazing with only 3 minutes of failure during a whole year from September 1, 2006 to September 1, 2007. Similar results were obtained for other countries.
In Brazil only 20 percent of their citizens use internet, but still the downtime for Google was only 3 minutes for the whole year. This figure beat Sweden where almost 80 percent of the citizens use internet. Sweden had 48 minutes downtime during the same period. Netherlands, India, Thailand, Japan, Canada had 11, 12, 13, 15, 16 minutes respectively. These are again impressive figures for Google. These downtime reports were compiled by Pingdom reports.
US had half hour downtime and since US has the largest number of internet users in the world this is still remarkable. United Kingdom had 20 minutes downtime and France had 19 minutes downtime.
Pingdom reports overall Google has 99.99% uptime worldwide. That shows the quality of service in Google, which is also expanding its servers worldwide, so we can see same service quality for a number of years to come. If Yahoo and MSN wants to compete with Google they should also have such quality uptime in their sites.
