Run Loonie Run!

By KJ Mullins     Sep 27, 2007 in Business
Canada's loonie has broken the US dollar. Okay broken is the wrong word, it's passed the dollar for the first time in 31 years on Thursday. The loonie made it to $1.001 in trading on Thursday morning up from Wednesday's close of 99.58 cents.
Budget 2007 called for a $9.2-billion surplus (to go towards debt reduction), while the monthly figures since that time have pegged the surplus at $9.7-billion after accounting for $4-billion in extra spending announced in the budget, but before year-end adjustments,” Royal Bank of Canada said in a note.
The United States dollar continues a downward spiral.
