Albany, NY - The massive frozen ground beef recall is being done by Topp's Meat Company, LLC. The meats are not only distributed to New York, but nationwide. These meats were produced June 22, July 12 or July 23, and carry the number of : "Est. 9748" inside the USDA mark of inspection."
The USDA gives a good list of all the products that are being recalled:
Here is a partial list:
>> Butcher's Best
>> Topp's 100% Pure Ground Beef
>> Kohler Foods
>> Sand Castle Fine Meat
Many of these logos come with various-sized beef burgers and burger weights, so please be sure to check the website for the complete listing.
Because of a cluster of illnesses which New York State Department of Health and the CDC investigated, a positive product sample was identified as carrying the E coli bacteria. In one case, a victim still had contaminated burgers in their freezer.
