More great feedback, more great changes: DigitalJournal.com is happy to announce we are opening up voting to allow anyone to decide what news hits the front page. Ladies and gentlemen, start your voting!
With more and more feedback filling up our email inboxes, DigitalJournal.com is happy to announce that anyone can now participate in voting on articles. As an "open source media" platform, our goal is to include a diverse and large group of people into DigitalJournal.com's community.
As a community with a variety of opinions, we let everyone decide what news they want to see on the front page; rather than having people who select the top stories for the front page, we allow all readers to upvote an article they like to promote it to the front page (every article has a box labelled "Good Find" that can be clicked to promote a story). The more activity an article sees, the higher it will rank in the Top News on the front page.
In an effort to include more readers in the voting process (without forcing registration), DigitalJournal.com now allows anyone to vote on articles and comments.
Every time a "visitor" upvotes a story, you will see it marked under the voters tab (found at the bottom of articles). When you click to see who voted on an article, it will show all registered users as well as "54 visitors," for example.
We believe this small improvement will bring with it a big change in functionality and diversify the news that gets promoted.
Thanks to everyone in the Digital Journal community, including Citizens, Citizen Journalists and visitors for all of your feedback. We really value all opinions as we work to improve DigitalJournal.com.
We have quite a few stunning and big features coming down the pipes so stay tuned!
