A German pensioner won the €2 million ($2.77 million dollars) prize money in a lottery, but is refusing the cash. He says he doesn’t know what to do with it and wants the lottery association to keep the money.
The 70 year old German from Hameln, Lower Saxony won the lottery, but is not to keen on collecting the winnings. He claimed he got the ticket out of a habit because his late wife was a passionate player.
After he realized he was the winner of the €2 million lottery prize, he went to the German lottery association headquarters in Hanover and told them he doesn’t want the money.
He reportedly told them, he doesn’t know what to do with the money, since he has no living relatives near him. His wife is dead, parents are dead and he has no children and no other relatives.
Lottery officials are trying to persuade him to accept this lottery, if he doesn’t collect it, probably add it to the next lottery prize.
Unusual player, maybe he could have collected it and gave it to charity. He must be the first person in the world to refuse the lottery money.
Have you heard of such a thing?
