Finnish-based mobile telephone giant Nokia said Monday it has inked a deal to acquire US-based Enpocket that offers technology and services for mobile advertising.

The value of the deal was not disclosed, but Nokia said it hoped it would be concluded during fourth quarter 2007.

Enpocket has developed a platform that can deliver mobile advertising across multiple formats including SMS, MMS, mobile internet advertising and video, Nokia said.

The acquisition was part of the Nokia's aim "to be a leading company in consumer Internet services," Tero Ojanpera, head of technology at Nokia, said in a statement, adding that Nokia believed that "mobile advertising will be an important element in monetizing those services for our customers and partners." dpa lsm sc
