There were two separate attacks on people in Livingston County, Michigan yesterday by a pack of vicious bulldogs owned by a neighboring farm. A 91-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman were the victims of the canine attack.
The son of 91-year-old Edward Gierlach discovered the mauled body of his father in the driveway. His father lived in a nursing home, but liked to come out to his property on nice days for a visit.

56-year-old Sherry Harper was found alongside a road near the house where Gierlach was found.

Police claim Harper was walking or jogging along that road when the dogs attacked her.

A family friend of Harper's said she always walked or jogged. She enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area, and they were unaware of the dogs being around.

Investigators found ten American bulldogs belonging to a neighboring farm which are believed to be the animals involved in the attack. Animal control officers seized all of the dogs.

"Its hard to determine because once we collect them, some of them are related so they appear similar. It's hard to determine which dog did the attacks," said Det. Sean Furlong.

The dogs are going to be tested before animal control decides how many will be euthanized.

Killings and vicious attacks by dogs are becoming a growing concern around the nation.

"The New York Times reported this summer that 33 states and the District of Columbia hold owners legally liable if their dogs maim or kill. In 2006, Ohio became the first state to enact a breed ban, though it was later overturned.

In the past two years, the Times said, nearly 100 municipalities have taken similar steps - banning pit bulls, Rottweilers, English bull terriers and American Staffordshire terriers, or passing regulations that require owners to use muzzles or short leashes in public, according to the American Kennel Club."

I was going to write about this.
Here is a sign that is on the property of the people that own these dogs.

Wow - that sign is quite a statement. They obviously don't care about the welfare of other people who may be harmed by their dogs.
Maybe if they'd keep those nasty & spoiled dogs ON their property then others could have avoided them, but it's impossible to get away from a pack of vicious dogs running wild through the streets when they're hell bent on killing!

The owners need to be punished severely.

The dogs sadly are not at fault, the owners are, who repeat this again and again.
