Inmate Tantrum Sparked By One Sausage Rule

By Andi Bryant     Sep 14, 2007 in Crime
Inmates in Lea County, NM were not very happy when they learned they would be served only one sausage a piece for dinner on Monday evening, so unhappy that they threw a tantrum
News of the skimpy meat allotment caused inmates to begin banging and yelling, which escalated into some broken toilets, windows and some fire lighting.
According to the Ashbury Park Press the 33 prisoner involvement brought officers from the Lea County Sheriff's Department and the Hobbs Police Department to calm the situation, which ultimately ended up in lockdown. The rest of the 300 prisoners didn’t quibble about the meal's slight offering.
Other than broken bathroom facilities and a few broken windows, some smoke damage was reported.
Involved prisoners will be facing charges.
