The city council for Rochester Hills, Michigan is considering a program for rewarding those who can help bring a stop to graffiti artists who deface public and private property in the city.
A $2,500 reward is being considered by the council to offer to anyone providing the information which leads to the arrest and conviction of vandals in Rochester Hills.

Vandalism in Rochester Hills has been on the rise, according to city officials, and graffiti has been an especially serious problem for the city.

Just recently owners of a local business had to paint over graffiti damage to their building, costing them $3,000.

Vandals cost to their targets has been extremely substantial and something needs to be done to curb this disturbing trend in crime.

This is a good idea. There was a historical sign here, it used to be there for almost 100 years, someone broke to pieces, they never replaced it is gone forever.

These people need to find something worthwhile to occupy their time instead of damaging other's property.

It is a good idea to offer these rewards but the vandals should be required to pay that reward.

How very sad - a real loss of history & so absolutely senseless.

Hey, now that is definitely a great idea! Why should the taxpayers foot the bill?!

Thanks for the upvotes & comments.

I have to agree, once the vandals are caught, they should be made to reimburse that reward money! Maybe they'd think twice before touching something that isn't theirs!!!
