Four people were due to appear before Irish courts Wednesday after three international flights were forced to land in Shannon Airport in the west of Ireland following "air rage" incidents on board, Ireland's national broadcaster RTE reported.
A 41-year-old Pakistani man was arrested Tuesday evening in Shannon after displaying "threatening behaviour" and refusing to obey cabin crew on a Thomas Cook flight from Manchester to Toronto, RTE reported, citing the police.
Earlier a 42-year-old man and his 39-year-old wife - both intoxicated - had to be restrained by crew on a Martinair flight from Amsterdam to Cuba.
US air marshals overpowered one other man, aged 41, on a Delta Airlines flight from Istanbul to New York. The flight was grounded at Shannon for the night as the man was arrested.
The man was "suffering from a medical condition" and would not face charges, RTE reported, citing the local police.
The 193 passengers on the Delta flight continued their journey at noon Wednesday. dpa wjh sc
