Hardees burger chain has done it again with another racy ad, this time involving a class room atmosphere. The ad for its flat buns Patty melt burger features a sexy teacher making provocative moves in front of the class.
The video shows an ad shot by Chris Applebaum, Mendelsohn Zien Advertising, for Hardees owned Carl’s Jr.’ new Patty Melt burger. It showcases a sexy teacher who makes provocative moves while her students sing a rap like song called “Flat Buns”.
The Tennessee Education Association is
incensed with this ad and says it is extremely demeaning to the good teachers who work very hard to prepare the students for the outside world. This ad on the other hand uses teachers to sell the company’s burgers in a tasteless way.
The association said to Fox.com:
It is unbelievably demeaning to every one of them to promote a television advertisement showing a young teacher gyrating on top of her desk while boys in the class rap about her body in order to sell hamburgers!"
Hardees on the other hand claim the ad is only a spoof and the target demographic for the ad is young men, who find this type of ad campaign appealing. A few months ago Hardees posted another controversial hamburger ad featuring Paris Hilton. It withdrew that ad immediately after it received plenty of complaints.
The ads are getting tasteless and they push the envelope to vulgarity, none of the ads make you buy the products. The amount of money the companies are spending on such ads is staggering.
What do you think about this ad? Is this ad funny or is it demeans the teachers?
