Six members of the same family have all worn the same wedding gown. The latest is Charlotte Middleton who was wed wed Mark Sisson. The only way though she could get the gown to fit was to alter it into a two piece ensemble.
The first to don the
gown was great grandmother Pauline Fithian who wore it in America when she was married in 1910. Before Charlotte the chiffon and satin gown was worn by her mum Lucy in 1975.
The latest wedding took place in front of 120 guests in Gresham's School chapel in Holt, Norfolk.
Charlotte said: "Mum gave me a choice of a new dress or the family one. I shook it out and went for it."
Lucy, 55, said: "It was wonderful to see the dress again. Charlotte looked great. It should last another 100 years."
Before wearing it the taller Charlotte had to have extensive alterations done. The hundreds of pearls were cleaned and replaced after a new bodice was made. The entire gown was also lined with silk.
