Best Buy Employee Caught Stealing $13,000 In Gift Cards

By RobotGod     Sep 1, 2007 in Crime
Last week, Best Buy employee Olivia Bailey, 18, was accused of stealing $13,000 from a Best Buy store in Lawrence, NY by using fraudulently obtained credit card numbers to purchase gift cards.
The Consumerist reports that the person who supplied the credit cards has not been arrested according to Newsday.
On seven different occasions, she bought the gift cards, from July 19 until Tuesday, when she was arrested. A security officer at the store called the police and reported the thefts. After that she was arrested. They are continuing their investigation.
The sales clerk will be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead on a charge of third-degree grand larceny.
This is why it is very important to look at your credit card statements thoroughly and see if there are any charges you do not know about. If more people checked their statements properly, these kinds of scams would be stopped sooner, rather then later.
