Even after being lunched a year behind the Xbox 360, the Wii has managed to be a non stop selling machine. The Wii has surpassed the Xbox 360 and PS3 in total units sold worldwide.
After Nintendo's launch of the Nintendo Wii in late November, their marketing efforts were a success. Selling out week after week, month after month despite all odds, the Wii is the winner. Even releasing a year behind the Xbox 360, the Wii has come though on top spot. The Wii is leading in total of number of units sold worldwide.
Sale Numbers
Wii: 10.57 Million sold (3.46M Japan, 4.24M America, 2.87M Others)
Xbox 360: 10.51 Million sold (0.43 Japan, 6.75 America, 3.32 Others)
PS3: 4.32 Million sold (1.13M Japan, 1.87 America, 1.32 Others)
But how long will the Wii be in control ? With Madden 08 just released and Halo 3 coming up in September, both games are bound to be huge sellers. Many people buy Xbox 360 just to play these games and now that the "Pro" model has a HDMI port the deal gets sweater. But the Wii lacks in many different ways: No downloadable demo. Lack of online games.
How long do you think the Wii will lead?
