An Oakland County Michigan sheriff's wife has been charged with prostitution.
She also is charged for using the Internet to solicit men for sex. She has been arraigned on felony and misdemeanor counts.
Christie Newlin, 45, of Waterford Michigan is free on personal bond after her arraignment in Farmington Hills and Troy district courts this week on prostitution and for using the Internet to solicit men charges.

Her husband is Deputy Randy Newlin. The Newlins have two children.
She has been soliciting on the Internet for 12 years. She said she needed the money for gambling debts and to pay for the kids going to college.

The Sheriff's department has been investigating after receiving an anonymous tip a few weeks ago.

According to Sheriff Michael Bouchard Newlin did have some knowledge of what his wife was doing. Bouchard said the Newlin was not involved in his wife's activities and has not been disciplined. It is being investigated though.

"He's been a solid performer for a long time," Bouchard said. "This has caused him a great deal of emotional trouble. It is my understanding they have a long marriage."

According to Bouchard Christie Newlin advertised on the Internet and met men in the afternoon in hotels.

Her trial date has not been set yet.

Excuse me, but it says the husband did have some knowledge of what his wife has been doing for the past 12 years?! What a messed up couple of strange people these two are.
I feel really sorry for their kids. Wonder how old they are? Can you imagine having this all over the news, and then having to go to school? The ridicule and embarrassment?

I hope they are really young and won't have a clue of what weird, twisted parents they were born to.

If what she said about needing the money for her kids for college is true than I would think they are not real young.

She is 45 so her kids could very well be in college.

What I wrote about the gambling debts and her saying she needed to money foe her kids college expenses is what I heard on the local news.

So in this area it has been in the newspaper plus the local news channels.

Like I said, how very sad for their children.

It seems like the kids are always the ones who suffer the most.

Makes me wonder about the husband since he knew about it but wasn't involved.
Makes me wonder if he was OK with it because of her needing the money.
Gambling debts can make people commit all kinds of crimes.

The need for money makes them do crazy things, both of them are guilty. Now he acts innocent and doesn't want to get fired. The children doesn't deserve parents like that as role models. This is her mug shot, doesn't seem to show remorse, she is very happy to get caught :)

This couple must have had a strange relationship for the prostitution to go on for 12 years. I can't believe that he didn't try to stop her...makes me wonder how much of that money he was enjoying too!

Thanks cgull for the picture. I have been following the story as I live in the area. I knew I had seen her picture but couldn't remember where.

Where you posted the picture from it say:
"Investigators said she advertised that she was available three days a week for $250 an hour and appointments could be made through the Web site. "

If she had one "job" everyday for the three days a week that is $750 a week and $3000.00 a month. If she could handle more than one "job" a day she was making some big money either way.
Yes Sky and GTS makes you wonder about the husband.
Just what does it mean he wasn't involved? What maybe he wasn't making her appointments.

But anyone who is addicted to gambling can go through a lot of money.

Pretty amazing for her to have gotten away with this for so long & her hubby a sheriff. I think he needs to find a new job, himself. He knew about it & condoned it, so I don't think he should be in a profession that should be upholding the law!

    Good find!
