Warner Bros. announced today it will remake the famous Bruce Lee's classic 1973 film, "Enter the Dragon,” The movie will be titled “Awaken the Dragon”, written and directed by Kurt Sutter.
Warner Bros, one of the Hollywood giants said in an e-mail to the Associated Press, that they will remake the Bruce Lee’s “Enter the Dragon” movie. Warner Bros. publicist Laura Kim said the movie “Awaken the Dragon” will tell the story of an FBI agent who investigates a Shaolin monk and underground Kung Fu fight clubs.
Kim however gave little details about who will act in this new movie, budget amount spent and the shooting schedules of the movie.
Bruce Lee’s original “Enter the Dragon” portrayed Lee as a kung fu fighter. He infiltrates an island as a fighter for a deadly karate contest, but the primary reason to seek the killer of his sister and revenge her death.
Kurt Sutter, the direct of the new movie is the producer of “The Shield” TV Series. The “Awaken the Dragon” movie will be released by Warner Independent Pictures.
Bruce Lee died young in 1973 at the age of 32 from a swelling in the brain. He was born in San Francisco but grew up in Hong Kong, where he became popular as a martial artist actor.
Lee was known for movies in which he portrayed characters that defend the Chinese and the working class from oppressors.
Enter the Dragon was a big hit when they were released and quickly became popular worldwide. It is one of the movies best left alone, remake will destroy it. I doubt the “Awaken the Dragon” will become a hit or popular as the original “Enter the Dragon” movie. I think Hollywood is running out of new stories, though has enough money and resources now. If Bruce Lee is alive today, he will be mad with this news.
What do you think? Should “Enter the Dragon” be allowed to remake? What is next for Hollywood? Remake of Ben Hur, Star Wars, Jaws, which movies are best left untouched.
