The Republic of Georgia claims Russia committed an act of aggression on Monday by allegedly bombing a small Georgian village. Georgian officials produced fragments of the projectile though Russia denies the incident.
According to a web report by the BBC, no one was injured in the attack. Georgian officials claim two Russian jets flew approximately 43 miles into Georgian territory and fired a missile at 7:30 pm local time. The projectile landed in the village of Tsitelubani, about 40 miles north-west of the Georgian capital.
Russia denies all accusations. Russia has repeatedly clashed diplomatically with Georgia over its attempts to join NATO. Russia also supports a breakaway province of South Ossetia, whose leader accused the Georgian government of faking the incident. Georgia has asked all foreign diplomats to provide a strong and unified international response to the incident.
