article imageUSA hands $30 Billion Aid to Israel

By Chris V. Thangham     Jul 30, 2007 in Politics
US Government will provide a military assistance deal for Israel in the amount of $30 billion dollar over the next 10 years, nearly a 25% increase compared to the previous years' aid package.
Israel Prime Minister Ehud Olmert expressed satisfaction over Washington's intention to offset a package of arms sales to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states with increased military aid for Israel.”
Olmert told reporters that this is a significant improvement of the defense aid to Israel. He said the aid package was decided after he had talks with the U.S. President George W. Bush last month at the White House.
The aid to Israel was primarily given to them to help reduce fears over a package of arms sales worth $20 billion over the next decade for Saudi Arabia and other Gulf States.
We understand the United States' need to assist the moderate Arab states, which are standing in one front with the United States and us in the struggle against Iran," Olmert said, referring to Tehran's nuclear program.
A U.S. defense official said on Saturday, the Bush Administration will present the aid package proposal to the U.S. Congress for approval later this year.
The U.S. officials wants to reassure their Gulf allies so they don’t get worried with the growing nuclear threat of Iran and the war in Iraq and wants to stand by them if any threats are posed.
The United States is also preparing an aid package to Egypt an amount of $13 billion dollars.
Can’t this money be used to provide health care and quality education for the US Citizens? Israel needs the U.S. Support but don’t they have enough funds to manage on their own? The government says it is expensive to maintain or provide a universal health care, yet it gives away money like charity.
What do you think about this aid package to Israel, Egypt, Pakistan, does it help stop terrorism?
