Sara Lee Food and Beverage Company has issued a voluntary recall for specific bread products. The company is working with the USDA to ensure that consumers are aware of the recall. The bread may contain small pieces of metal.
Bread products produced by Sara Lee Food & Beverage are being voluntarily recalled by the company. SpiritIndia reports that selected bread products that were produced at Sara Lee's Meridian, Miss. bakery and sold at grocery retailers in the following areas of the country: the entire states of Mississippi and Alabama, most of Arkansas, far southeastern Missouri, western Georgia, southwestern Tennessee, southeastern Louisiana and the panhandle of Florida, are being recalled.
The reason for the recall is that the bread may have bits of metal in the slices.
The USDA an Sara Lee are working together to inform people about the recall. All the affected items are are stamped "Best if purchased by" between the dates of July 25, 2007 and August 7, 2007 and include the code "222." Look for this information on the front of the bread bag,
The products being recalled were sold at grocery stores and mass merchant retailers. To view a complete list of the products being recalled check here.
Check the packaging on your bread and if the code "222" is on the packaging then the item is included in this recall. Sara Lee offers a full refund.
The recall only applies to the products listed.
