Have you ever wondered how surfers avoid the mouths of sharks as they chase the crashing waves? Well, you won't find an answer here. This is one of those gadgets that come along once in a century and for that we should all be grateful.
This
anti-shark gizmo mounts on the tail of a surfboard and is said to emit low-grade electrical signals that disturb a shark’s muscles. (It would seem that should be the last thing one would want to do in an encounter of this kind, but what do I, a non-surfer, know?) The signals somehow affect the shark’s sensory system, which detect changes in the electrical field of the water and tell it that some delectable life form is attempting to pass through its orbit (usually to no avail, at least without this gadget; so they say.)
If you want to try this (and stay away from me) be prepared to take a few runs to get used to the weight of the board which this gizmo upsets a bit, There is an operational dilemma to consider as well and that is:
What do you do if you fall off the board and into the water while trying to perfect the use of this gizmo and tumble in the mouth of a great white shark? Apart from your obvious immediate problems, you would probably be very angry at having spent $700 dollars to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the first place!
So put that on your surfboard and smoke it (or something like that!)
