In 2005 Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office for a meeting with President Bush to talk about renewing the Patriot Act. GOP leaders told Bush that he could alienate more people...
“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”
They explained that there was a valid point to the argument that provisions in the law go against the constitution. According to the article Bush said just what you might expect.
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”
This is not new news, but I think it is important to revisit it at this time, given all that is going on in the country right now.
I think most of us by now know the kind of man that is leading our country. And most of us are praying that we can somehow get past these last 18 months that he is in office, without our country suffering any more then it has to.
This is a man who swore to uphold and defend the constitution. And he considers it "a goddamned piece of paper".
I suppose the soldiers would be just "goddamned moving targets"...
Perhaps someone should ask him why he took the job, if he can not even respect the constitution.
