Detroit Bus Driver Assaults Passenger

By Laura Trowbridge     Jul 16, 2007 in Crime
A City bus driver for Detroit, Michigan was suspended today for assaulting a female passenger. The case is under investigation now. It seems the woman was the one who started the fight and the driver went rather berserk and beat her up.
The female passenger was on the city bus with her 7-year-old son when she got into an argument with the the bus driver over the fare she owed.
Witnesses to the altercation said the woman told the bus driver as she was about to get off at her stop, "You need to check your attitude." The driver told her, "You need to get out of my face."
The passenger then threw a bottle of water in the driver's face. He slammed his brakes on, jumped off the bus behind her and began punching her. He threw her against a fence and hit her face as well.
Another female passenger got off the bus to help the woman who was getting beat up. She jumped on the bus driver's back to try to stop him, but he punched her in the eye.
Assault charges could be filed against both parties of this fight. Also, the driver might file charges against the passenger, and the passenger might do the same against the driver.
Police are questioning the driver for his involvement.
