article imageDriver Says He Was Struck By Bullet On July 4th

By Laura Trowbridge     Jul 11, 2007 in Crime
A Michigan man said he was driving on the Southfield freeway the night of July 4th when he was hit by a stray bullet around 10:30 PM. He never knew he was shot until he got home.
Patrick Myers said he had his window down while he was out driving that night and he felt something strike him.
"I felt something hit me real hard and real fast," said Myers. "My body jolted up but I was held in place by the seatbelt."
When he got home he saw he had a wound on his chest and there was a blood stain on his shirt, but he still never guessed he had been shot at.
When he was about to leave for work the next morning he saw that his Jeep had a hole in the roof by the sun visor area of the driver's side. It finally dawned on him that he must have been shot at.
When he had an X-ray taken it showed a bullet embedded in his chest.
"It was sitting there above my liver, between my lung and pancreas."
Police say they cannot confirm Myer's claim about being shot at and they would not know where the stray bullet was shot from if it happened.
(A good thing Myers was able to walk around after this incident without any serious consequences!)
