When two young boys lured little 8 year old Wilfred Kriel, with the promise of sweets, into the bush, the poor little guy could not have know what he was letting himself in for.
The two boys aged 12 years and 7 years, first assaulted Wilfred Kriel, of Rosendal farm, before chopping him to death with a home made axe. They were taken into police custody the same day, after showing Wilfred's body to some of their friends.
The boys are currently staying at Clanwilliams Bosasa Youth Centre, where John Cloete, principal of the Niewoudt Primary School, the boys attended, has visited them.
He said it is going well with them under the circumstances and he will visit them in the school holidays. The 12 year old feels very proud that he's sleeping in his own bed for the first time, and the 7 year old says he is getting meals on time.
John Cloete added,
"I want to look at the school curriculum that they're following and take along books so that they can keep contact with the school and their teachers."
On May 28, the day Wilfred was brutally slain, the community went into a shocked silence, but Cloete says 'it is sort of back to normal now.'
