Entertainment Weekly ranks 25 all time top action movies and rates Bruce Willis' "Die Hard" movie the best one among them. The movies "Aliens", "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Road Warrior" and "The Matrix" are among the top 5 movies.
"Die Hard," starring Bruce Willis as a tough cop battling terrorists, was named the best action film ever by Entertainment Weekly magazine -- two weeks before the series' fourth installment, "Live Free or Die Hard," hits theaters.
Entertainment Weekly magazine unveiled a list of top 25 action movies picked by its writers and editors from a collection of films with a wide range from 1938’s The Adventures of Robin Hood, Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai in 1954 (Ranked No. 6) to Computer animated film The Incredibles (Ranked No. 25).
The movie Aliens followed “Diehard”, with “Raiders of the Lost Ark” ranked at no. 3, “Road Warrior” No. 4 and “The Matrix” No. 5.
But it was 1988's "Die Hard," starring Willis as tough-as-nails New York cop John McClane who battles terrorists in a Los Angeles high-rise, was the number 1 chosen by the Entertainment Weekly’s staff.
When it was released in the summer of 1988, “Die Hard” grossed more than $138 millions worldwide and made Bruce Willis a struggling actor into a top movie star. Two sequels followed it with “Die Hard 2: Die Harder" and "Die Hard With a Vengeance," in 1990 and 1995 respectively.
The fourth movie in the “Die Hard” series will be released on June 27 and this time Bruce Willis’ McClane is saving the world from a mad genius mounting a cyber attack.
An Entertainment Weekly spokeswoman said the list was picked without any regard to "Live Free's" opening date or its interview with Willis that hits newsstands on Friday.
The other top ranked movies in the list are “Spider-Man 2”, “Kill Bill – Vol. 1” and also older movies like 1964 James Bond movie “Goldfinger” to 1973 “Enter the Dragon” Bruce Lee’s movie.
Do you agree with Entertainment choice for the best action movie? If not what is your choice? There are few other movies missing here they are Terminator, Mad Max, Star Wars.
