article imageWho Will Be Bob Barker's Replacement?

By Laura Trowbridge     Jun 14, 2007 in Entertainment
Bob Barker's last "The Price Is Right" show will air tomorrow, June 15. The whole game-show-watching world will miss this icon of television fun. How many grew up watching "The Price Is Right"?
How many remember watching his earlier show, "Truth Or Consequences"?
I still can see myself sitting in my grandparent's livingroom (we lived next door to them) watching that older show.
Can anyone imagine "The Price Is Right" without Bob Barker? He has been with that game show for 35 years.
CBS is looking for a replacement host to carry on the game's tradition now that Bob is retiring. There are several people that are supposedly being considered. One is George Hamilton who is in his late 60's; another is John O'Hurley from the "Seinfeld" sitcom; Mark Steines from "Entertainment Tonight", and Todd Newton who actually did host a stage version of "The Price Is Right" in Vegas.
Rosie O'Donnell was heard saying she would love to be the next Price Is Right hostess (with the "mostest" biggest mouth!). I would not think she would be in the running even if all the above guys were to be turned down.
She does raise an interesting question though. Does the next host have to be male?
My question though is why any host at all? I personally would like to see this show retired along with Bob Barker. I do not want to see anyone stepping in to fill Bob's shoes.
After taping his final show, Barker told the Associated Press he wouldn't mind filling in if the show is still host-less by the new fall season.
I say let the show rest in peace! We'll miss you, Bob! Thanks for the great memories.
