The 7-year-old German Shepherd, Ozzy, was given the death penalty after attacking a neighbor's child. The judge in the case sent him to an animal shelter with the order of him being euthanized there.
The dog's owner pled his case and got a reprieve of the original sentence.
Ozzy's friend suggested that Ozzy be sent to George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Pennsylvania for a life in prison sentence.
The Judge decided it was a good idea and has okayed the life behind bars with no chance of parole for the dog.
“He’ll be in there until he dies,” (Judge) McNeill said. “Ozzy will not be adopted by a family. He will never be released to the public."
Ozzy will spend his life patrolling the perimeter of the prison. He will not be allowed to have any contact with the inmates or visitors.
I wonder where he'll be kept. Will he have his own prison cell in solitary confinement? Will they keep him outside in a doghouse with a chain link fence of its own?
