A building located beside Metropolitan Police in downtown London collapsed Tuesday. One person remains trapped in the rumble. The building is in the process of reno work. The top two floors came down with no explanation.
The one trapped individual has been talking to members of the London Fire Brigade through the rubble. Everyone else in the building has been accounted for. At last word only one injury, a minor one at that, had to be treated.
While the cause of the structure collapsing is not known police are not suspecting an explosion.
Currently all efforts are concentrated on forming a plan to safely rescue him," Commander Steve Allen stated, noting that the building was not in use and those inside had been carrying out the renovation.
About 60 fire fighters attended to the building. The service had been called at 4:04 p.m.
