Adrian Basford, 52 and Wallace Basford, 48, brothers die just hours apart on separate vehicle accidents in Maine. Adrian died while riding a motorcycle and Wallace died when his van hit a freeway bridge wall.
Two brothers were killed in separate highway crashes in this coastal town just hours apart.
Adrian Basford, 52, of Winterport, died Saturday afternoon, his motorcycle went out of control on US highway 1A, and it crossed a drive and stuck an embankment. Police who investigated the accident determined Basford must have driven too fast while rounding a curve in the freeway.
Wallace Basford, 48, who heard about his brother’s death, was involved in a similar type of single vehicle crash on US highway 1 just before midnight, his van failed to negotiate a left turn as he was coming off a bridge and slammed into a wall and died.
Trooper Stephen Hills had spoken to Wallace Basford before his death, they spoke about Adrian Basford and also found their father had recently died.
It must be tough for the Basford’s family to undergo a double tragedy the same day.
