An alert has been confirmed in the UK as fears grown over faulty hospital pregnancy testing kits could be giving the wrong results. Thousands of women are being asked to contact their GP as many could have been given a negative result from the test
The test which is better known as "Clearview HCG" is currently popular in UK hospitals to detect if a woman is pregnant, however, the production company, Inverness Medical Innovations, has alerted many hospitals which they supply that there is a faulty batch giving women the wrong result.

It is thought that tens of thousands of women may have used the test in a hospital environment, and the fault appears to be with the detection itself. Many women will have been given a negative result by the test, when in fact, they are indeed, pregnant.

Any women who think they may have been for a test in a hospital recently in the UK, are being asked to contact their GP as soon as possible to take the test again. It is, however, confirmed that this batch has not reached the shelves in the high street shops.

The Clearview pregnancy test sold over the counter are thought not to be effected and will still give a correct result.

The batch, which is believed to be around 83,000 tests have been sent to hospitals all over the UK. So far, the company has written to 50 hospitals and asked them to send the their stocks back, or at least, not to continue using them.

The US company says tests have been used in UK hospitals from March to present date.

This reminds me of an article that I wrote a while back about the pregnancy test giving off negative results.
