article imageSex Offender From Most Wanted List Is Captured

By Laura Trowbridge     Jun 8, 2007 in Crime
An East Jordan, Michigan man failed to register as a sex offender and has tried to disappear for many years. He has been on Michigan's Most Wanted Sexual Offenders web site, and has just been found and arrested this week.
28-year-old, James Kotrys was convicted of a third-degree criminal sexual conduct back in 1999. His victim was between the ages of 13 - 15 years old.
The last time he was in contact with the authorities was in July of 2002. He disappeared after this and failed to register as a felony sex offender.
Investigators said he had few relatives, kept a low profile and worked a traveling carnival as he avoided capture.
He is now in the Antrim County Jail. He was not allowed bond since he is a flight risk.
He faces a prison sentence of up to four years for not registering as a sex offender.
It makes me wonder what he has been getting away with in the past five years as he has avoided the police. Being in a traveling carnival gives him easy access to youngsters.
