Hurricane Season 2007; Day One And Along Came Barry

By KJ Mullins     Jun 2, 2007 in Environment
After being named just yesterday the first storm of the season Barry is being downgraded to extratropical. Barry reached landfall at Tampa Bay today bringing rain and some wind. It was moving across the state towards Jacksonville.
The good news is that the state desperately needed the rain that Barry brought. Water managers across the region are quite happy that Barry paid the state a visit. Drought levels have been high all over central Florida.
The surfers were also enjoying the higher waves in the choppy ocean.
The sad news though is Barry caused death with the heavy rains.
At least one man died on the slick roads Saturday. 25-year-old Antonio Jose Rivera lost control of his pickup during the downpour.
