4KG Mini Pooch Saves The Day

By Janice Ambrose     May 27, 2007 in Crime
Archibald, a 4kg Maltese, went berserk, when he was rudely awakened by a burglar in KwaZulu Natal and literally saved his owners life.
The elderly victim, Daphne Borchers, 86, of Sunwich Port on the South Coast, was dragged from her bed by a thief who broke into her home while she was sleeping. She was frightened nearly to death.
The thief beat her, and poked her with a sharp stick, while demanding money from her. The thief, did not reckon on the response of her little Maltese, Archibald, who went berserk, and went straight for the man sinking his teeth into the the hand holding the stick. When the thief shook the little dog off, he bit the man on the behind. Every time the man lashed out at him, he changed his tactics and bit his legs. He also bit the man's arms, buttocks, hands, and then back to his legs. The man was swearing at him in Zulu, and missing him. Archibald persisted.
After deciding 'enough is enough' the burglar ran out of the house, with Archibald, still hot on his heels. He got away with R100.
Daphne says," Archibald definitely saved her life - all 4kg of him. He's the bravest little chap I know."
