After getting more than 50 million views on YouTube the creators of LonelyGirl15 are going to expand there own brand of advertising by launching a British version.
Based around a fictional 19 year old student called Kate Modern living in London, and set around Carnaby Street, the British version will use product placement and company brands to help "define the characters" that they include.
So basically, they are going to start making one big long advert for what every companies will pay them to include they products.
The great thing about the original LonelyGirl15 was that no one know at first that it was just an advert, being used by the creators to promote their own company. The recent episodes of LonelyGirl15 have started to include brand placement.
Joanna Shields. President of Bebo International, who will be the first site to host videos of the British version, that it would allow a small number of brands regular access to possibly a large number of viewers. She went on to say that
"If we do (the advertising) tastefully and well and people see that it is successful then it could be an opportunity for advertisers and brands to connect with this demographic,"
Bebo will start showing the series at the beginning of July before expanded to YouTube and then other video sharing sites.
The series will initially start on Bebo at the beginning of July before moving to YouTube and other networking sites.
The team said they did not think it would be an issue that "Kate Modern" was not a real person as "people watch television everyday".
Actually, although people do watch television everyday along with all the advert breaks, they don't like it when TV shows start using product placement within their shows. So I hope that they find right balance.
