Man that starved mama dog arrested while in court on drug charges

By patxxoo     May 23, 2007 in Crime
Jamal Carter had an unexpected surprise. While he was in court for on drug dealing charges he was arrested by an ASPCA agent for multiple counts of animal abuse.
This is a case of an agent following through with his job.
New York Agent, Paul Lai with the ASPCA has been trying to track Jamal down but he had not been able to get his man, until today that is. After finding that Jamal had a court appearance today Paul was waiting.
This came after giving Jamal several chances to turn himself in on his own but he never did.
A concerned neighbor had called the ASPCA April 20 when a pit bull mix was seen lying motionless, starved and looking dead with her three puppies in his back yard that were about 4 months-old also looking near death due to starvation, nothing but skin and bone when they were rescued.
The puppy that was in the worst condition had to be put into an oxygen cage and given blood transfusions just to be kept alive.
Jamal's excuse for the condition of the animals was that he had gone on vacation and didn't have time to look after the dogs.
What a poor excuse for a person, to just leave these animals to starve like this. The mother was dead and it is unknown how the three puppies managed to stay alive like they did.
The three puppies are doing well and have been put up for adoption and will hopefully find owners that will care for them.
Jamal is being charged with multiple misdemeanor counts of animal abuse. And of course the drug charges he was in court for when Paul arrested him.
