The former chief of the CIA's bin-Laden unit says that Ron Paul is correct. US foreign policy was the motivation for the 9/11 attacks.
Michael Scheuer said in an interview on May 18 that Ron Paul's assertion that anger over US foreign policy was the principle motivation for the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001.
Ron Paul's statement during Tuesday night's debate invoked an angry response from former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani stated the he "never heard such and absurd explanation" of the attacks. Apparently, he has not read the official 9/11 Commission Report, the numerous CIA analyses or bin Laden's own statements regarding the attack.
Since the debate, Ron Paul has been attacked by the major news media and there have been calls from GOP officials to have him banned from future debates for having the courage to tell the truth.
In spite of what the major media may say to the contrary, Ron Paul was right. Mr. Scheuer, who is the former head of the CIA's bin-Laden unit said in an interview:
“I thought Mr. Paul captured it the other night exactly correctly. This war is dangerous to America because it’s based, not on gender equality, as Mr. Giuliani suggested, or any other kind of freedom, but simply because of what we do in the Islamic World – because ‘we’re over there,’ basically, as Mr. Paul said in the debate.”
Apparently, a great majority of Americans also think that Dr. Paul was correct. A poll on CNN.com received nearly 48,000 responses with 63% saying that US policy in the middle east was a contributing factor in 9/11. See:
