A Spanish Bank repossess a house and sold the house in an auction with the owner's dead body inside.
El Pais, Spanish newspaper reported on Wednesday that Spanish Bank repossessed a house after the former owner failed to pay mortgage payments. The Bank sold the house in the auction with the mummified body of the owner still inside the house.
Apparently the owner of the house had been dead for some time due to natural causes, which may be the reason she didn’t pay the mortgage. Because of the salty air in the seaside town, her body was mummified and preserved without decay.
She was discovered last Saturday by the new owner, Jorge Giro, who saw the body first after he purchased the house from the bank.
The neighbors said the dead woman was in poor health and her relatives living in Madrid seldom came and visited her and stopped paying her mortgage six years ago.
