Prosecutor Hakan Roswall plans to press charges against those connected with this popular torrent site.
He plans to prosecute individuals for breach of copyright and "helping others to break copyright law and conspiring to break copyright law". This is after a recent raid on The Pirate Bay's servers in Sweden.
The Pirate Bay's Tobias Anderson says, "We expected this. And of course we don't think they will succeed.
"I think they feel they have to do it. It would look bad otherwise since they had 20 to 30 police officers involved in the raid."
It seems that the Unites States' own Motion Picture Association was encouraging local officials to carry out the raid.
However, Anderdon seems optimistic, saying,
"We will most likely be cleared as it is obvious that there is no copyrighted material on the site, there are just links to other places.
"Whatever the outcome, we will continue. If we are outlawed in Sweden we will continue elsewhere. There will be no downtime."
The courts gave Roswall until June 1st to decide if he will actually carry out prosecution.
