article imageThe Queen has landed - but the Carpet is too Short

By Janice Ambrose     May 4, 2007 in World
About 5000 people were waiting to welcome the Queen when she landed at Capital Square, Richmond, Virginia. But, the carpet was too short.
Queen Elizabeth's first appearance in the USA in 16 years was delayed by 20 minutes, while she waited on the plane to disembark, and all because the carpet was too short. The problem was aggravated when it was realised that the steps were too low to reach the aircraft's door.
The Duke of Edinburgh, peered out of the plane, wondering what was taking so long.
Members of the guard of honour sorted out the problems.
While the carpet was too short, and the steps did not reach the door, is it really such a big issue. I like the Royal family, and honestly think they would not have made a fuss about this.
