A Richland, Washington was on the U.S. Marshals list of most wanted fugitives has been captured in Hong Kong on Tuesday night. He was wanted for the rape of his daughter and posting the video of the rape on the internet.
Kenneth Freeman, 44, used to be a sheriff deputy in Washington State. He was accused of raping his daughter and posting a video of it on the internet.
He was on the most wanted list as one of the world's most notorious child molester after he jumped bail. He was arrested in 2005 on 1st degree rape charges.
Freeman was caught by the Chinese police in Hong Kong on Tuesday night.
His daughter who is a teenager now, has appeared on television to tell her story to speak out against child sexual abuse.
The video of him raping the child was the most downloaded video on the next in the past few years. It was on "America's Most Wanted" and because it was seen there it helped to identify the girl in the video.
There is no extradition agreement to return fugitives between the U.S and the Chinese government. But authorities have said he will be returned to the U.S to stand trial because the U.S. has a treaty with Hong Kong. But the Chinese did agree to help with his capture.
Authorities did not want to get him while he was staying in Suzhou, a city in China so they waited. They heard he was going to travel to Hong Kong. They caught him as soon as he landed at the airport. Four Chinese police were injured in his arrest when he tried to escape.
He has been charged with three counts of rape of a child and jumping bail and also facing other charges of producing and distributing child pornography. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
Here is a link that is on the Most Wanted list that has more about the case.
So glad this pedophile is off the streets. Let's hope they do not allow him out on bail. I hope they send him away for life with no parole.
