Serial Killer and Rapist has given his heart to Jesus

By Janice Ambrose     May 2, 2007 in Crime
Jimmy Makketta, dubbed the "Jesus Killer" has pleaded guilty to 47 charges. 19 of rape, 16 of murder, 6 housebreakings, 3 assaults, 1 kidnapping, 1 theft, and 1 attempted murder.
The capture of self confessed serial killer and rapist, Jimmy Maketta, has brought to an end Maketta's reign of terror among workers in the Phillppi farming community on the Cape Flats, between April and December 2005.
Jimmy Maketta stood on a hill on Fridays, spying on Phillppi farm workers as they left their jobs to start their weekend of drinking. The accused says most of his victims were drunk when he attacked them at night, and they did not even know they had been raped.
Captain Jonathon Morris, who arrested the accused, handed documents and letters to the prosecutor, that Maketta had written. One letter was to his wife, Janetta, and two of the letters were addressed to Morris in which he gave details of the rapes and slayings.
Maketta, at first denied everything, and only admitted to the crimes after evidence was provided. He admitted everything, even to murders the policeman did not know about. He showed the police where to find the bodies of his victims.
Maketta, has also written to two newspapers, claiming responsibility for the murders.
"He says he's given his heart to Jesus, and has turned over a new leaf."
Maketta is due to be sentenced at noon on Thursday.
