A hardware store in Mississauga, Ontario was the scene tonight of a shooting. The SIU have been called in to investigate a shooting involving the police.
Tuesday around 7:15 pm, police were called to the Rona hardware store because gunshots were heard by witnesses.
One man was shot, another was arrested and a third man got away. All are described as in their 20's. Undercover police were called to investigate a stolen vehicle when the incident happened.
The Special Investigations Unit was called to the scene, a parking lot of the hardware store. It is said the SIU are only called to investigate police incidents resulting civilian death, sexual assault or serious physical injury.
A man being sent to the hospital with a gun shot wound to the chest and an SUV in the parking lot has a large bullet hole through the windshield. One report from witnesses has the man shot after he refused to put down his gun but police will not confirm.
About 6 to 8 officers surrounded the SUV after a shot was fired. And within minutes 3 marked police cars and an ambulance was on the scene.
A Rona employee said “All of a sudden we just heard a bang,” “We weren’t sure if it was a firework or something but we looked and all we saw was a guy in a car with a gun.”
More information will be released at a later date.
