LONDON, 1st May 2007 - Canonical and Dell are pleased to announce a partnership to offer Ubuntu 7.04 on select desktop and notebook products. This is a tremendous step forward for Ubuntu, our users and customers.
An earlier DJ post
here all ready mentioned that Dell was going to offer Linux. It seems they have chosen to go with the Ubuntu distribution.
The Dell web site has even more details
here.
I, for one, am glad to see this. More and more people are discovering that they don't have to be locked in to proprietary software, nor do they have to "borrow" copies of software like Office or Photoshop.
I've used Linux and Windows for many years, and only recently did I try Ubuntu For the first time on my home machine. for the casual home user, it was one of the easiest set-up experiences I've ever seen. Printer sharing across the network between computers running different operating systems was a snap. When is the last time anyone ever said that about any version of Windows?
It's great that Dell is supporting this market.
