Will Prime Minister Olmert Be Forced to Resign over Israeli-Lebanon Conflict?

By S.H. Mills     Apr 29, 2007 in World
Items leaked from an official report scheduled to be released tomorrow indicate that things don't look good for Olmert. The report is said to be very negative toward Prime Minister Olmert as well as other officials.
A commission was created by the Israeli Government to investigate controversial issues surrounding the build up to and the execution of the war between Israel and Lebanon last summer. The report is said to be very negative toward Prime Minister Olmert as well as other officials. One has already stepped down, another is said to be leaving sometime in May, but it’s been reported that Olmert isn’t ready to give up.
Many have derided the handling of the Israeli-Lebanon conflict due to bad press, civilian deaths, the failure to rescue Israeli soldiers, and failing to neutralize Hezbollah forces.
Speculation is that the report contains “harsh criticism.” Olmert’s ratings are very low in opinion polls and he may have no choice but to resign if the report charges him as being personally responsible for the failures. The full report is scheduled to be released tomorrow but some portions have already been leaked.
